can 6 tests all be wrong?

So heres the basics:

im 21, i live with my boyfriend and have been with him for a long time now. recently, i ran into financial trouble and couldnt continue my birth control pill so i have just been super safe in calculating my ovulation with a calendar and what not and i know that its the best type of birth control and not always accurate but it worked since November.

even though i am an adult who pays their own bills, lives on their own and does their own thing, i cant bring myself to talk to my mother about this until im sure.

yesterday, i took 6 home pregnancy tests through the whole day starting in the morning with first morning urine and going all the way through until last night and all 6 were positive so im assuming pregnancy is what ive got going on here considering 6 tests say yes, and i have all the begining symptoms, missed period, fatigue, slight cramping a few weeks ago, mild nausea, and very tender swollen breasts and nipples.

however, im worried that my recent diet change could be affecting this and im worried maybe the fact that i was taking in a lot more protein than normal could have something to do with all 6 tests being positive. just started the atkins diet and everything ive read about for false-positive tests does say excess protein in the urine can cause a home pregnancy test to say positive.

anyone have any thoughts on this or suggestions?

The only time you would get a false positive is if your taking a medicine that has high levels of the HCG hormone in it, it's a chemical pregnancy, missed reaction time (letting it sit too long) which can result in an evaporation line.  None of these doesn't sound like your situation so it sounds like you're pregnant.  And if you have missed that many periods it sounds like you are further along than you may think.  You need to get on prenatals and to a doctor asap.

Just a question.....if you can't afford birth control pills why were you guys not careful to use condoms?  Those aren't very expensive at all.  And your right, the method you were using doesn't work because sometimes women ovulate sooner or later.

Don't worry about the diet or the medicine. I was violently ill when I was pregnant and vomited mine up and almost everything I ate from 8 weeks and on and my baby is completely fine. (in fact she's napping on my stomach and chest) The important thing is that since you do know to start taking proper care of it now. Hope you have a good 9 months! :)

thanks. thats what my sister said, about stuff other women do while theyre pregnant like drugs and such and their babies turn out perfectly fine. the only part im worried about is the diet ive been on but im hoping that since im just starting the prenatals if im further along than i thought that something didnt already go wrong with the pregnancy.

im excited for it but oh so worried at the same time. and thank you so much for all of your help! it is greatly appriciated!

I'm sure the baby is fine.  Keep taking the prenatals and actually doctors suggest taking them even when on BC because you can still get pg on BC.  Prenatals will really help with the development of the baby and to help keep it healthy.  Try to relax and stay calm.  I know it can be stressful but at least you're doing everything right.  Don't stress to much about the baby because like I said, I'm sure it's fine.  Look at all the other crap people do and their babies are still healthy.  :-)  Good luck hun!

we were using them for the majority of the time but i had just gone from having a job to looking for a job and only down for about 2 months max and when i went to refil it in january, i was told i had to go into my doctor. heres where my insurance screwed me because when i told my mom i had to go back in for the pill refil she told me it would have to wait until august or september because thats a year from my last appointment and insurance wont cover 2 appointments in a years time unless its a medical emergency.

i am starting the over the counter prenatals today and i will get in hopefully soon to see my doctor. i figure, if this all is wrong and im not pregnant, the prenatals cant hurt me really and if i am pregnant they will only help. i am off the atkins diet as of yesterday afternoon and i quit smoking the second i thought this was a possibility which wasnt too hard of a choice since i was cutting myself back significantly to quit anyways. im just very worried for the sake of my baby (if im pregnant) that its doing ok through all of this thats been going on.

id also like to note that last month, i got my period or so i thought but it was late a few days. the month before that, i didnt. i had very light spotting but only when i would wipe and it was brown. 2 months ago i took an HPT and got nothing but negatives except 1 was a faint positive. when i went to the physicians office at my college she did a urine test and it also was negative and i had my period for about a day and a half with an actual flow that month.

if i am pregnant, could i be way farther along than i thought?
