My doctor says that laying on your back isn't that bad. You would wake up out of discomfort before causing any harm to baby. I *try* to sleep on my either my left or right, but always find myself waking up on my back. It just so happens to be the most comfortable.

It is said that if you're actually causing any damage to yourself or to the baby, your body will let you know that you need to wake up and readjust. My doctor said it's fine if I wake up in the middle of the night on my back, just to roll over onto one side. So don't worry about it, your body would let you know if you were doing something wrong. :)

There are 2 blood sources that keep the blood flow to your baby that lie under your uterus on the back side.  As your uterus gets bigger and heavier, it "can" decrease the blood supply to the baby.  My dr. says that if laying on my back is most comfortable, put a small pillow under one hip or another and that should shift the uterus enough to keep that blood flow clear.  I have acupuncture for 45 min 1 X a week that requires me to lay on my back - dr. says that's fine...

if it were to get to the point that it could cause problems....you would wake up with severe shortness of breath and other very alarming symptoms.  they say that laying on your left side is best, but i know that i toss and turn alot and go from left side to back to right side and so on...... i am sure you are fine, just "try" to lay on your left side if you can.

there are alot of things that i think the media and such over exaggerates about and the sleeping on back i believe is just one of those situations.

i myself have yet to notice a major differance in my belly button aside from it is slowly getting shallower, but was really deep to begin with.... am kinda hoping it will pop with this one.

also i am 23 weeks, has anyone else noticed the bub is way low in pelvis??? lol

My belly button is starting to get real tight on the top and this past week my little friend has moved more up into my stomach and kicking up a storm. I love the kicking except at night when I lay down he keeps kicking around my bladder or something and I have to get up to go to the bathroom all night. lol

P.S. Joyce I can't wait to hear what you're gonna have.

fawn...IF they do the u/s like they said they will, i will be rushing back to update everyone....that is IF they can see what it is....everyone is telling me girl....so when i went to a clothing giveaway over the weekend i picked up a few girlie things....because they didnt have anything neutral.  i hope i dont have to take the stuff back...lol

feels like baby is kicking a hip or ovary or something it is so low...weird.
and then will move up (mostly on right side) near my belly button and feels like have hiccups or something....a constant 3-4 movements...kinda jerky....not real worried about THAT though, as i remember my other kids getting hiccups alot during my preg with them...lmao

since i am already a larger woman (238 when got preg) i doubt that my belly button will pop. but ya never know. with all 3 of my others i was this big on D-day.  take a look i posted a new pic the other day of belly (with shirt over it...lol)
