32 Weeks Pregnant - Insufficient Height of the baby

Hi All,

I am 32 weeks pregnant now and went for a checkup yesterday. My doc measured my belly (ofcourse not using an inch tape...) and said the baby's height is not adequate for 32 weeks. He has suggested for a scan today. My question is that, will there be any problem with the height of the baby( too small or too tiny baby???). Has anyone faced the same kind of problem? What would be the usual treatment?

Thank you in Advance --  Priya

I would go with the doctors advice and get a scan done just incase but my mother carried me to full term and I was only 14 inches long and there was nothing wrong with me at all both my older brother and I werent very big babies (he was only 17) and my mom ate right and didnt smoke or anything during pregnancy some people just have small babies but I would still go  with the doctors advice and get a scan

Tape measurements are COMPLETELY INACCURATE and shouldn't even be done anymore. With that being said everyone carries differently and if you are carrying more in your back your going to measure smaller on the tape. Even ultrasounds this far along are not very accurate (more accurate than the tape though). I had an ultrasound at 32 weeks that said I was measuring about 3 weeks smaller and they were worried my baby would be born too tiny. Well at 39 weeks I delivered a healthy 6 lb 15 oz baby. It was completely off. Things can throw off ultrasounds in late pregnancy because the baby is so curled up and if you have extra fluid it could cause the measurements to be off as well.
