Cough and cold while 8 weeks pregnant...please help!!!

Well I had my first appointment on july 27th and at the time i did have a cough. I told the doctor but she did not seem to concerned about it. I thought it was just from me having quit smoking the week before. Well in the last week i went from just having a cough to being all stuffy and the mucus turning green. Now i know it cant be good in anyway so i called the doctor friday. I was told to take Tylenol cold and Robitussin dm and if it did not help to call back on monday. My stuffiness is not as bad but everything is still green coming out. Can this whole issue caused harm to my baby already? I have never been sick before while pregnant so im scared and after just going through a mc in april im twice as scared. Thank you for any and all responses and advice.

I had a terrible cold in my first trimester too about 8wks pregnant. Now I am 13.5wks and baby is doing great. I used the saline nose drops and they were a life saver!!

Feel better!!

OMG thank you girls so much. I just thought about everything today and got so worried. I have had broncitis so many times and wonder if that's what it is. I will keep you girls posted as to what happens at the doctor tomorrow.

I had broncitis at the beginning of this pregnancy. I took robitussin dm, vicks vapor rub and saline nasal spray along with antibiotics to get rid of it. Im now 32 weeks! I dont believe a cold or the flu can cause miscarriage in early pregnancy since the baby is still so tiny.

Nope you and baby should be just fine :). Something like half of all women report cold or flu-like symptoms in their first trimester...usually a result of hormone fluctuations, but even if it was a genuine cold and/or flu your baby should be just fine. Our bodies protect the baby very well when we're pregnant, and something as minor as a cold virus or flu bug shouldn't affect the little one, especially at such an early stage. Try to relax :). I was sick as a DOG first trimester with both pregnancies (cold with DD and flu with DS) and went on to have full-term, healthy happy babies :).
