dental xrays

Hello, I think I might have a cavity because my tooth hurts but it looks fine. I think I will have to go to the dentist but not sure if they will need  an xray. Does anyone know if they are safe during pregnancy? I'm about 18 weeks.

I am in my second trimester, so I think I will be fine.  The tooth isn't hurting today, but I am going to go to the dentist anyway just to be safe.  As someone had mentioned above, I don't want any infections.  Also, I called the office and they said they will put two sheilds on me.

I had dental work done althrough my first pregnancy and ended up having surgery at 35 wks pregnant due to a abcess that had formed under a wisdom tooth. I was told that dental xrays are safe to have done, its normal xrays that youve got to be careful with and even then if those are needed there is precautions they can take x

Its always best to wait until your second trimester.. The xray beam only exposes where the cone is adjusted usually where the tooth is aching of course proper shielding is always a must.. Anasthetic is localized and wont harm your baby its better to have it looked that then have a cavity that turns into an infrction in your mouth and that's really not safe for your health or your baby..

I had xrays done during the pregnancy on my teeth. They just put 2 or 3 shields on me. I also had a root canal done. They can do dental work but the only thing they'll give you is local freezing. I was in A LOT of pain but it was worth it in the long run.

It's safe. They will make sure you are shielded. I've had xrays this pregnancy for dental work. I've also had to hold my son for a CT scan and mri! My baby is fine. I'm 31 weeks.

Well yeah but if you do have a cavity & you have to get it fixed? Then what? Won't you have to get anesthesia? & that's not good for the baby. My sis in law had a cavity while pregnant & the dental office told her to wait
