So confused...

My Dr told me yesterday that he is really concerned about the size of my LO. He said he is on track to be 9lbs at birth. He is recommending a c-section because of the chance of shoulder dystocia. LO was 6 lbs 4 oz at 33 week u/s. I'm 35 weeks now with uterus measuring at 39 weeks. My goal was to have a pain med free vaginal delivery. I don't know what to do. I want to deliver vaginally but scarred LO could end up stuck and with serious injuries... Any advice???

My mother is a pretty small lady and she gave birth to my little brother naturally, he was 12 lbs 11 ounces.. Both of them were perfectly fine.. Sounds to me like your doctor is sorta bullying you into his agenda.

I'm with the ladies who think he's scaring you unneccesarily. I'm 5'3" and was a UK size 8/10 pre pregnancy. My third child was born at home 8wks ago and was 8lb 9oz. I didnt need stiches or any kind of extra help delivering him. My other 2 were also over 8lb and only the first caused any problems for me (caused because I was induced and made to lie on my back, if I had been upright like the other 2, I dont believe I would have had any problems). The choice is ultimately yours, but dont be bullied into it, do a little research maybe and make the choice (either way) for your own reasons.

Also keep in mind doctors make more money when they do csections so I would not have one unless u want to don't be scared about it. Your body know what needs to be done.

My daughter was 9lb2 and I had a natural birth. It was a very long labor and despite wanting no pain relief I opted for an epidural after 22hrs as I was exhausted and was worried I would be too tired to push. Other than that it went well, she was healthy and I didn't tear. With my third I was induced early due to his size, plus I had pgp. I know a few other mums who gave birth naturally to large babies.

My baby was 9 lbs and i didn't even know. Unless your baby is like over 10lbs I really don't think the weight matters. Not to mention half the time they are wrong about the weight before birth. They really don't have a accurate way of telling. I would not get a C-section. Everyone in my family has big babies, 8-10lbs and no problems. Don't let him worry you. Not only that it doesn't hurt more just because the baby id bigger. It hurts no matter what lol You know you've had a baby. 9 lbs is really not as big as you think.

My son was 9 lbs at birth and I just needed a few stitches. If I'm not mistaking, a lady on here just gave birth to a 9.9lb baby. Its very possible to do esp considering we open 10cm for a head start then become in so much pain or feel so much pressure that we will do what it takes to push that baby out. Ask your doc or look up perenial stretches/massages, which should help prevent tearing if you decide to try vaginally

Ultrasound and fungal height measurements are not accurate in late pregnancy and can be off by up to a pound and a half!  I was told my fist son was gonna b 9lbs, well he was 7'11oz! So there was a big difference there and I always measure 2-3 weeks ahead.  I was induced at 39 weeks due to my blood pressure.  I don't think I would have a csection but that's just me.  Some drs are csection happy, if you know what I mean, if they do that they get paid more.  You just have to decide if that's the case.  Good luck.

That sounds like bull to me. I'm sorry for my bluntness but I know PLENTY of women who have delivered 10lb baby's with no tearing or complications at all. And they were even homebirth at that. There is no reason why you can't deliver this baby. I know a woman who just this last week gave birth to a 10lb baby with NO tears whatsoever and she was a petite woman. She was 120lbs pre pregnancy. So don't worry you are more than capable of delivering your baby :)  don't let your doctor scare you.

IF YOUR DOCTOR THINKS YOUR BABY WOULD B 9LB THEN I WOULD SAY C-SECTION THAT WAY YOU WONT HAVE ANY CHANCES OF THE BABY BEINGING HARMED,ARE YOU GETTING ANOTHER SCAN TO SEE THE WEIGHT BUT YOU HAVE HIM LIKE MAYBE WHEN YOU GO INTO LABOR THEY WOULD CHECK OR SOMETHING AND IF HES SMALL THEN YOU COULD, HOWEVER I WOULDNT CHANCE ANYTHING!
