depends on where you go, my dr sends us to another place for our 20 week scan and it starts out in 2d, some of it is 3d-4d and ends in 2d so mine is a little bit of everything and we can bring a dvd to record it on if we want. anything more than that we go somewhere else for the full 3d-4d ultrasound.

My ultrasound is a 4D. Scheduled outside of the Dr's office. I didn't think it was routine. My hubby nd I were having a huge debate over this lol.
We're Tricare (Military Medical), so maybe that's why. Idk.

When you have a routine songram at the drs office its 2D. My dr does them between 28 and 34 weeks for $100. You get a c.d. and you get a teddy bear with the babies heartbeat recored on it.

the 18-20wk is normally just a normal 2D scan, but i believe you can go and pay for a 4D one that early. However i would wait til you were closer to 30-32 weeks to get a 4D because the baby is more formed and looks more like a baby.
