thanks girls. It made me feel so much better when you I'm a good mom, otherwise I wouldnt be so concerned babydreams9. thank you
Peanut butter is a really good tip, I'll make sure to do that. I'll try and eat some more fruits.. but it seems like I have to force myself to eat it.
I eat all organic so I'll try to find something similar to the Carnation Breakfast you guys are talking about.
thanks again, I was feeling pretty bad about it
You are a great mom, otherwise you wouldn't be so concerned!! Not to worry. You are doing your best, and thats all you can do. I can relate to your dilemma. I lost 15 pounds during the first 18 weeks of this pregnancy due to hyperemesis gravidarum; I felt like the worst mom ever. Luckily I have gained almost all of it back and our baby boy is very healthy and even a few ounces bigger than typical for date! When I was sick, I worked with a nutritionist to put my weight back on. She offered the following tips:
Always eat full-fat dairy products (no light stuff!); whole milk if you can tolerate it
Add peanut butter to toast; eat nuts as a snack (think good fat, high protein)
Eggs are a great source of nutrition, fat, and omega-3's
The food you have been eating sounds healthy and well-rounded; but try to include fruit if you can. And as Kazwel suggested, do try the "Carnation Instant Breakfast" in your milk, or drink a Slim-Fast or two during the day (if you get the powdered kind, you can put it in a blender w/ice, milk, and fresh or frozen fruit - yum!!) I still have trouble with the amount of food, too - so just try to get the "most bang for your buck" so to speak... Best wishes to you! :)
I have a hard time eating too. I dont eat much either.
You are not being a bad mom.. you are doing your best.
Try the carnation instant breakfast in your milk. It helps add alot of vitamins and minerals.
and see if you can stomach some peanut butter on your toast. It will help add protein and calories.
Can you stomach fresh fruits??
Good luck
Kazwel
