Your mom is sort of being a traditionalist, although if she were really doing it the traditional way she would not be doing it (since by strictest etiquette rules, neither the woman's family nor the woman should host the shower). So since rules are being finessed anyway, she should relax, if she is going to throw the shower she should let you pitch in. I guess the possibility is that you are somehow making her feel insulted (like, if she overheard you say "cool decorations for my shower that I know my mother isn't cable of" to someone). If she gets her back up a whole lot, just talk a friend into throwing you another shower, and assure the friend that behind the scenes you will be glad to do all the work. Then for that shower you can be as artsy as you like. That will allow you to accept your mother's less-beautiful attempt to throw you a shower, with grace.
Aww congrats! And I hope it'll be worth it! She's adding extra stress to me that I really don't need, I don't understand why she keeps pushing the matter after I've already made my decision.
That was my perspective too! Trust me... It's worth it! My babyshower is in two days and I'm more than excited for it!
I made my invites myself too and everyone loved them! Idk why she's freaking out, he's my first child of course I'm going to be excited to plan his welcoming.
I planned out my entire shower, even made my own invites (: couldn't be happier!
