Placenta Previa

Hi every1! I'm new to the forums but thought it might b nice to have more moms to share baby news with! I'm 33 & this is my 3rd pregnancy but I m/c with my 1st! My daughter is 11 & this baby is expected Aug 7th! At my 10am sono Dr said I had placenta previa which I had never heard of till then! Also said it's not uncommon & there's plenty of time for the placenta to shift n2 it's normal place! My question is.... Is there an expected time frame for the shifting to b done, or is it just random? I'm 14-15wks now & still no shifting?! I've had a considerable amount of lower abdominal cramping & Dr said take Tylenol & if it worsens go to ER! I never had pregnancy cramping so it makes me a Lil nervous! Just hoping to educate myself on the situation & get some clarity about it! Any input is greatly appreciated! Thx every1, hope u all have a great pregnancy!

my friend has the same thing going on with her actually. and they told her to quit her job and relax because she has been spotting and they told her that in some cases if the blood flow is alot it can be severe and it is possible to bleed out to death..now ive never heard of that but im not a doctor. but her doctor told her shed be fine and just to take it easy this pregnancy and to not lift anything heavyy or do anything that could cause pain. the worse that will happen is that you will spot. and there is a high chance that you will have a c-section if it doesnt move. she is 17 weeks and hers still hasnt moved so she may too be getting a c-section. best of luck to you! and try not to do anything strenuous!

So needless to say I stopped reading & hoped this site might at least shed sum light on the situation without freaking me out as much! Hoping to get informed & make a few friends to share experiences with!

Generally it will start to move upwards around 20 weeks or a little past that. Sometimes it can take up to the 3rd trimester to fully move. There's a chance it might not though. Did they say how much of the opening was covered? (Like partial or complete?) I never experienced a Placenta Previa, but I had a low lying placenta and by 24 weeks it had moved up.
