I'm getting the 5 year IUD in 2 weeks. I had the depo shot and it didn't make me gain weight or have mood swings but I did get pregnant on it so I don't want it again. And pills are just to easy to forget. I like the idea of having 5 years of protection and not having to remember it every day.
I gained thirty pounds on implanon and had all kinds of trouble.
I'm on the paragard iud and have had it a month. It's non hormonal and lasts ten years. So far I'm loving it! I'm also bfing so my options were limited.
It really depends on you and your body. I personally have a hard time keeping up with pills, so that's outta the question. I've heard a lot of bad things about the depo shot(extreme mood swings, weight gain, etc). I don't like the idea of patches cuz I scar with bandaids if they're used long term. I'm thinking about the implanon implant it seems the best option for me. It's effective up to 3 years and you don't have to worry about a pill or inserting something in your vagina
