What you are describing is known as "spotting". Brown blood is old blood, and it's quite common in pregnancy.
Although it's never a good sign, you only need to worry if the blood is red, and you have cramps with it. Tell your doc/gyn about it when you see them. But if it gets worse/redder/painful go back to ER.
I had spotting with my first pregnancy, and i bled red blood - no cramps, at 7 weeks with this pregnancy, and I have a healthy daughter, and at my 10 week scan yesterday this baby was wiggling about quite happily. Just take it easy, and chances are you'll be fine.

At 5 weeks 6 days I started bleeding super heavy and bright red. Went to the hospital where they saw a sac but no heartbeat and told me I was going to have a miscarriage. Well, 2 days later I got another ultrasound which showed a tiny baby with a nice heartbeat. I continued to bleed like that almost every day for 5 weeks and then one day it just stopped. My daughter is now 4 months old.
I'm in sort of the same position. I am either 8 weeks or 4 weeks and I saw pink/brown good on my pad at 12:30pm yesterday. I have never actually cought the goo on my tissue it always wipes clean except for today when I had some pink. I went to A and E and they did a test (not blood) and confirmed I was pregnant but have booked me in for the early baby unit on Wed to have a scan. I have had some dull aches (like AF pains) and this morning I had some bad cramps that lasted about 10 minutes but no bleeding followed them.
When I had a miscarriage in Feb I felt very sharp pains (they did not freak me out because I had had them before) but when I went to the loo there was pink but it was a lots more than this time and it was slimy. Then periodicaly I would get a drip of bright red blood in the toilet. I only bled for about four days and it would stop and start and there were no clots. I was 7 weeks.
I would try and stay numb (that's what I am doing) I would keep your feet up and monitor the bleeding. On most websites I've seen there is no correct miscarriage bleeding it can be any colour and any consistency.
I'm in the UK and they don't seem to be able to check my HCG in my blood (I'm hoping they can do that at the special unit on Wed) but I tested today and it was still a dark line. I am going out to get some clear blue tests because I think the sensitivity is 50 and I will check again tomorrow and if the line is dark I will tell myself that my HCG isn't falling - maybe you could ring and ask what your HCG levels were when they did your blood.
You can't stop it happening so I'm just trying to relax - I know it's hard.
