Taking Clonazepam during Pregnancy

I am 19 weeks into my pregnancy. Ocassionaly I take clonazepam due to my depression and insomnia. I am worried that this will cause birth defects on my baby. What are the probabilities if any?

Class d medications are not recommended during pregnancy because there is a risk that it may cause birth defects.

I have the same question as clysta.  Did your obgyn prescribe this for use during pregnancy?  There are many safer medications you can take that will help with your symptoms.  Talk to your dr about these.

clonazepam is a class D drug, and can cause birth defects. Because you said you only use it occasionally, it's probably not done anything, but no one can say for sure. Did a doctor prescribe this to you during your pregnancy? If not, you should never take anything without speaking to your doctor about it first. It does only take one time to cause lasting damage on a growing fetus. Speak to your doctor and ask for an alternitive medicine if you really need it, but don't take this anymore.
