My fiancee and I picked a name that we both love for our son. We wanted a unique name because we both have very generic names. (Jess & Jeff). I then read a post a little while ago with a bunch of women talking about how they think it's stupid to have unique names etc. Now I'm super sad and self conscious about what we picked :( I just don't understand the need for the negativity... if you don't like a name then don't pick it for your child. Please don't post for other pregnant women to read...

I think that post was more about made up names and all-out mispelled names. To me, if youre going to name your son derek or derrick thats fine. But it doesnt need a Q or Z in it. Also ive heard just ridiculous made up names. "Abcde" is no joke going to be used as a name and I cant even make fun of the name because I KNOW of my bf can read that over my shoulder and say "wow u know how many kids will call him alfie or alphabit** bc his parents named him that" not even 10seconds after reading it, imagine how much more creative kids will be around the child ALL THE TIME. Oakley is a NAME thats how the brand got it. Same as mercedes, or even maybelline.

Im thinking about calling my little prince oakley as well.. I also like archie. As long as u like the name it dnt matter what others think. Most names grow on people anyways. I have a step cousin called otto and the whole family turned their noses up at it at first but now everyone thinks it suits him!! U stick with what u want not what others persuade u!

I like the name Oakley! I love it actually. & I agreed with the post to be honest. She didn't mean unique as in the name itself but the spelling.

She meant of it's Aubrey. Girls try to go all out and spell it like Aubreaei
Or like if it's ashley. The try to go with Ashleigh. She was saying that's not really making it unique rather than just odd.

Then I love the name Mercedes but you'll hear those people that are like "really? After a car?"

I named my niece Shelby. Literally after the car. Buuuuuuut would never name my own that.

Its a beautiful name..nothing wrong with unique. Im named Mercedes Manuella DeJesus. And I love having a different name. My boyfriend and I chose Victoria Angela Rose Patterson for our little girl. Dont be afraid to be unique.

I Also Love Unique Names Because My Name Is Jennifer And My Last Name Is Also Common So Ive Had A Lot Of Problems With Other People Having My Name. My Daughter Will Have An Uncommon Name, Noemi Xochitl, Which Means Beautiful Flower.

Oakley is fine,, i was in the same position but i made my mind on L'orèal me && my bf&& idc about the makeup! That's your baby dnt worry about what ppl think even if they think glasses the only opinion that matters are the parents :).

Thanks ladies :) picking a name is such a hard thing! You don't want to pick one if you know someone with the name, if you know a dog with a name,  Certain celebrities... etc. It has to be just right!

I was the same way my hubby chose a very common name when i was 8 weeks pregnant i loved it at first but i had my doubts. Now i am 7 months in and sticking to that name. My hubby chose it and we both love it so thats all that matters<3

Thank you. We're going to name him Oakley Alexander Antonio Delgado. We both love the name and hope people don't think it's Oakley after the clothing/sunglasses :(
