Kinda concerned...

I'm 20 years old and i've always been healthy. I posted a question on medhelp before regarding some side effects I was having with my birthcontrol, Yasmin which made me very depressed and anxious as well as phsyically ill.

I stopped taking the birthcontrol which was advised by my doctor, on January 20th the week my period started (I started on the 22nd of Jan). I have been off the pill since, and me and my partner had unprotected sex after that, the week of the 3rd. I've had slight cramping since then but I thought that would be normal since I was going off the pill and my body is adjusting to it. However, today (Feb, 11th) I had some spotting of blood when I went pee...not a lot of blood.

Im not sure if I am pregnant or if its just my body reacting to being off the pill..but I am also taking an anti-biotic (Tetracycline) that said not to take it if you are pregnant or suspect you are pregnant I dont want to hurt the baby if I am pregnant so I wont take it anymore, but since I've been taking it for a week would this cause any birth defects?

I'm going to give you some information that a doctor personally gave me at a meeting at our preg. center. When you are 8 weeks pregnant or further is when long term exposure to drugs (not just street drugs) and alcohol would cause birth defects.

If you are pregnant, at this point the placenta is still forming and the meds are not being passed to the baby just yet. Obviously you've already stopped taking the pills, which is great! I'm not saying that you should take them. Just reassuring you that nothing probably happened to the baby, IF you are preggo.

As for the bleeding, it could be implantation OR a side effect from coming off birth control. The only way to know will be to take a pregnancy test in one more week (or when your next period is due).

gosh that is awful!! I wouldnt be able to live with myself knowing i caused a defect, Im not going to take it anymore, i really really hope its early enough that it wont hurt it. Would it hurt it this early if it just implanted?????

I'm not even sure i'm pregnant, i've been really emotional lately...and had really bad sinus pressure and stuffyness...then its like my nose runs really bad lol...so werid. but i've heard some women have had sinus problems early on in pregnancy. Also...i've been eating a lot, more than i normally would. its very weird...but i havent had any breast tenderness or anything just the cramping. So...maybe im not pregnant, i will test  if i dont get my period next week.

my moms teeth are silver (permanetly) because my grandmother had to take Tetracycline while she was pregnant with her so if you suspect you are pregnant STOP taking it

Hey I also quit my birth control (Loestrin24) The begginin of january and the last time i bled was jan22 and im having alot of preg symptoms....like low abdomen cramping...sore nipples...but im not sure about it just being from quitting the birth control...but i wouldn't think so because it should only affect you by nothing happening not pregnancy symptoms because there arent any hormones being taken in...Search that medication in google and see if it would cause birth defects...i know from 3 weeks to 8 weeks is when most birth defects can be caused so i doubt it....it may be implantation bleeding or just your body re adjusting to having its own period again

i can't answer the question about birth defects but i will suggest one thing- go get a pregnancy test asap, the spotting you had could be from implantation, so i would also take another test in a few days
