I'm with Angela, LOL! I wore the hospital gown because I didn't want to get my own clothes dirty. But I like the idea of an oversized t-shirt as Chantal suggested. First you'll have to see what hospital policy is as they may require their gown (though most laboring women end up getting naked anyway; having stuff on you while in labor is NOT fun). Some let you bring your own clothing or gowns to wear.
I don't remember if I got naked or not. I just asked DH, who is sitting behind me watching TV and he doesn't remember either. I think I stayed in the gown but I'd open it when I got really hot or if I got up to waddle into the bathroom all modesty went out the window and I didn't try covering up my backside.
Another idea is to wear a bikini top or sports bra if you want to get in the water. I'm allowed to wear whatever I desire so long as I don't have anything in the way of my hoo-ha (for obvious reasons, ha ha). And if I get to have a water birth as I desire I will most likely be wearing a bikini top or sports bra.
I just wore the hospital gown. Actually that's all I wore until I left the hospital. It saved me from soiling any of my own clothes..LOL
When I delivered I just wore a tank top (not one with a built in bra or anything) and the hospital gown, but I didn't really have the gown on. It was kinda just draped over me. I didn't like how it got in the way, so the nurses told me to take it off and if I wanted I could just lay it over me for privacy.
My hospital required you to wear one of their gowns, but under it I wore one of those tops with the bra built in. Like a tankini top with speghetti straps. It would have been easy to bf right after delivery, but the baby went to the nicu. I liked it because it held my massive bb's in place.
With both of my deliveries, (unless I was in the shower or tub) I either wore an oversized t-shirt or a camisole. I was most comfortable in the t-shirt. Could cover most parts but could get out of the way very easily. I have been thinking about what I want to wear this time, and I'm just not sure. I will probably just end up in a t-shirt or find a cheap, comfy short dress or night gown type thing. Being completely naked just isn't for me lol, and it depends on who is in the room at the time of delivery.
I've always just worn the hospital gown, but I've never delivered at a hospital that allows for showers use/water/births or anything else.
