I'm 6 weeks pregnant and unfortunately caught a cold. I know that cold medicine is a no no, but is there anything I can do to feel better/ get better quicker? Thanks! :)

sorry vicks rub...some doctors will give you a list of "pregnancy safe cough and cold medicine" but I always refused to take it so I'm not familiar with the safe ones.

Oh sweetie I'm so sorry...with all 3 of my pregnancies I've gotten an awful cold at some point during the first trimester so I completely feel your pain...Just entered the second trimester with this pregnancy AND just getting over a nasty cold that's lasted almost two weeks.

In the first trimester the best thing to do is get in the bathtub, turn on a steam shower and breathe the steam...don't get too warm, and don't let the water cover your body (as in a bath, or letting the water fall on you) because you don't want to raise your body temp too high but the steam can REALLY help....or you can turn on a steam shower and just sit in the bathroom.

if I was coughing I would use vicks..tylenol for the headache and body aches...saline drops in the nose, and drink LOTS of water to flush out the yucky gunk.

best of luck..chicken soup, orange juice...all the old fashioned remedies are good as well!

oh and try to sleep a bunch! ;-)
