Desperate new mother!

My baby is 3 weeks. All day she is fine, but when it gets like around 9pm or so, she starts to cry. I would try everything possible to calm her but nothing help. I would breastfeed her, change her, rock her, talk to her calmly, etc. I don't know she won't calm or stop crying. Eventually she is fine & sleeps like nothing happened.  I asked a nurse last week & she told me its fine, babies just cry for reason at times.  I just don't understand. Is this normal? Have you experienced this? What's your suggestions? I feel soo bad when she cries like this.

Not sure where you live but my first was born in Texas in June and the only way we got her through those tough spells was to go outside. Something about the air or the stars or who knows what it would stop her crying right in its tracks.

Another solution was to hold her skin to skin in a baby carrier (Ergo Baby, Maya Wrap and Baby Hawk all worked for us) and sit and bounce on an exercise ball. We have one with sand in the bottom so balance was easy and it didn't roll when you stand up. Now at 20 months if she doesn't feel well or is having trouble falling asleep she sometimes still asks to bounce :)

It may not result in 3 hours of crying, it may not be colic but she could be gassy. My little sister would cry at 8:15 every night, it lasted about an hour or so. The gripe water did the trick.

I Google about colic, it says the baby cries for 3 hrs or more. She doesn't cry that long, mostly an hour. Then she is calm & fine, goes to sleep. My mom says it's normal, some babies are like this. I just worry. I pray this stage goes away.

I have read several books about crying and babies don't actually cry for no reason. I noticed my babies crying more when it got dark but I kept lights on. We would spend hours trying to rock her to sleep and all she wanted was the light to be out. She could have colic. Try gripe water 1 hour before night time and turn out the lights.

Maybe she's gassy.
My daughter  did that at 5 pm everyday. Turned out to be gas. Burp her after every ounce ..try giving her gripe water.  It'll help settle her stomach

I do give her bath everyday, feed her & try to make her sleep. That didn't work. So I thought maybe she is crying because I'm ruining her sleep time by giving her bath each time. So today I just did quick sponge bath but still she cried. After like an hr of crying, now she is calm, just lying down on her bassinet.

Ah the good old fussy time. If you want peace bathe her at 9 pm. After her Bath she'll calm right down and eat. Then sleep. My daughter is at 7 pm amd I realized really quick bath time was the answer

That is the most normal thing all babies do especially newborns for no reason. Try not to stress over it

Thank you. Hopefully she grows out of it soon. I feel so guilty, all I want to do is cry. I feel so helpless.

It's called a witching hour and some babies just get like that for no reason. You aren't doing anything wrong and she will grow out of it eventually :)
