Discomfort after a D&C

I am scheduled for a D&C on Friday and what I was wondering is, what to expect. How much pain will I be in after, for how many days? How long did you bleed for? How long did it take AF to return and how long to ovulate?
Thanks for your input!

Sorry for your loss. :(
I had NO pain after my d&c, never took one pain pill.  While I bled heavily in the hospital (the kept me a few extra hours because of it), I only bled light-medium for about 5 days afterwards.
My first period came exactly four weeks after the d&c.

I had some slight discomfort.. no major pain, I took ibuprofen for the first day after the surgery... I returned to work 3 days later...  I bled for about a week and a half with spotting for a couple extra days after that...

it took 6 weeks for me to get my first period so i imagine about 4 weeks to ovulate
my cycles were longer after my d&c averaging 32 days instead of 28...

I waited 3 cycles to start trying again and got pregnant again in my third month of trying... so far this pregnancy is going good and I will just keep praying

Im so sorry you are going through this, the first two cycles took forever to get through for me.. it was really hard.

Hi,

sorry to hear about your loss, I had a d&c in 2003 for a blighted ovum with my 2nd pregnancy. From what I recall I had pain for quite a few days afterwards and was taking strong pain relief to help with the horrible cramps I was getting and felt very raw and tender internally. I bled for about 2 weeks and my af went back to my usual of 30-31 days after that. I don't know how long it took me to ovulate again, but it took me 6 months before I fell pregnant again, which ended in a miscarriage that time.
I would say give your body a chance to recover and allow the lining of your womb to build up well enough again before ttc again. Easier said than done I know believe me!
I was not able to wait at all before trying again as my first 3 pregnancies I lost and the thought of waiting even 1 month was just too long, but looking back now, my body wasn't ready and I should have waited.
Hope this helps some.
