I made it to 5cm without any pain medicine, but aftet that, I kept having to get my epidural upped bc my little man didn't drop until the last minute so the pain just kept escalating.. I had to wait on the anesthesiologist to come and up my dosage and I was at 9cm... Let me tell ya, I don't see how anyone does it naturally. I know all deliveries are different and we all handle pain in different ways, but there is no way in hell I would want to feel that kind of pain ever again lol I had a really bad labor though. I knew going into it that I don't handle pain well and that I was going to get an epidural though. Good luck!
I have had all 3 of my children without an epidural I hate needles and didnt want anything in my back lol. once u put ur mind to it u can do anything and if u want to see if u can handle labor have a shot at it if u cant get the epidural no shame in it
"Find a focal point, relax, and let them happen." Is EXACTLY it, I've been trying to figure out how to write just relax, but letting them happen is really what you need to do, not tense up during them. Also, standing up for me made my contractions hurt more, but pass much quicker, so I couldn't agree more on that!
I had my son two months ago naturally. I was not opposed to the epidural, although I was determined to do it naturally. The best word of advice I can give is to not fight the contractions. Find a focal point, relax, and let them happen. Its also better if you can stay out of the bed. Also, if you choose to have someone in the room with you rely on them for support and encouragement. Best of luck!
I got to 8cms with no pain medicine, and then they lost my son's H/B, so I ended up with an emergency c-section. Honestly, around 7-8cms is when it started getting painful to the point where I thought I might benefit from pain medicine, before that it was definitely tolerable. I have a very high pain tolerance though, so it's all about what you can handle. You can go in with an open mind, and if it gets to the point where you think you need an epidural, get one! You can do it though, I was more scared of a needle in my spine than childbirth haha!
