Ever had, heard, seen of "false" negative blood test results?

Okay, so those of you who have been getting to know me here already know I am not necessarily ttc, but I am becoming more attatched to the idea every day it seems.

I had implantation (type?)_ bleeding last tues-thurs, and yesterday saw my G.P.-

I was like "I have a nasty stomache flu.... it makes me so sick I drive with saltines; and then I am randomly hungry and eat pizza or pasta!- BTW I am (was?) a recovering anorexic.. so that is ust WEIRD!...."

.....She considered the strong notion of a pregnancy.

I was in denial.

Well, today the lab called and said that ALL the tests are negative! (in a good/positive way)

So, if this is so- what's up?

I know that my hormones are crazy.... I was supposed to get my period by now....

And I know what pregnancy feels like.

-She said to follow up w/ob-gyn.. and maybe re-test next week.

The test wasn't the type that shows "hcg levels.." only "Positive" or "Negative"////

I feel sooooooo insane, and now my B/F, who I swear was having sympathetic signs..
-He said he thinks I'm a little hysterical.

Are You KIDDING me?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

-M

Thank-You all for your comments!
-still no sign of Auntie Flo.. lolx

-I have been reading that it takes about 14 days from "conception"...meaning implantation.. for most hcg to register.

For some odd reason, many women don't register until 2-5 months pregnant!!!

*very unusual though, I suspect.

Trust your intuition...I guess.

Now, I am sooooooo hormonal and about to KILL my b/f.

Whatever the outcome, Krissy- I think a positive is great; and a negative is a sign like you had!

OneLove!

I just posted on antoher subject and then read what you wroe about implantation bleeding. I went to the doc yesterday for a UTI and he checked for pregnancy which he said (after 10 minutes of waiting) that it was negative. I ovulated late this cycle, the date was FEB 3rd or 4th. AF was due 2/16 and she came right on schedule. HOWEVER, AF usually lasts 5-7 days and this time lasted 2!! Also, it was lighter than normal and usually I pass huge blood clots and though there was red blood, there weren't any blood clots or heavy bleeding!! yesterday was 2/20. If it was implantation bleeding on 12/16, when should I be able to test positive?? Also, is it common to get implantation bleeding the exact same day asAF is due???

i have heard of false negative blood tests...not from anyone i actually knew, but i have read about them happening on here.  i agree with joy renee...it takes a bit after implantation for there to be enough hcg to be detected.

good luck to you!  it sucks that you are still left hanging...  i hope it all comes together soon!  you know, it's funny...i had a pregnancy scare jan2007.  i was on birthcontrol pills and completely missed my period which has never happened while i was on the pill.  i ended up not being pregnant...still a mystery to me.  but, what i did learn in the scare was that i was secretly disappointed that i wasn't pregnant.  i hadn't thought i was ready for a baby, but i guess i kind of was.  so, hubby and i started trying at the end of the summer and i fell pregnant just before christmas!  i hope you get the results that you are hoping for :-)

Well if you just had implantation bleeding, you might not get a positive result. So testing in another week would be very wise! You could still be pregnant, especially if you ovulated later than you thought?!

Anyway, good luck with that! Maybe someone else has more insight to this?!
