I bled for at least 4 weeks with my first. Your body is clearing out the lining if your uterus from when the baby was there. It is also coming from where the placenta was attached, it has to heal as well.

The hormones your body gives out while you breastfeed is what stops your period. I only bled for 3 weeks. It all depends on your body. My friend only bled for a week after she gave birth.

I gave birth to my son yesterday and never believed it when people would tell me how much you will bleed. I thought "I'm a fast healer" but this is nuts the amount of blood you lose! I'm basically chilling in a diaper lol I imagine I'll bleed like this for weeks!  Not to mention the stiches, I didn't even tear badly is what the docotor said but it sure does feel like I did. I feel like my vagina is literally inside out lol its awful. I was thinking before this that I would be one of the lucky ones to have sex shortly after and not have to wait 6 weeks, but now that I gave birth I wouldn't want anything near my vagina lol

I bled for three full weeks with some spotting after that.  I followed doctors orders and made sure I was fully healed and had been given the green light by them (important to do this) before having sex.  It's a pretty bloody experience, child birth.  good luck

I bled for 3 weeks and then had thicker discharge for another 3-4 weeks after that. I breastfed exclusively, no supplementing. I didn't get my period back until my daughter started on solids at 6 months.

Yes, you bleed for about 6 wks. That's how long it was for me. When you're breastfeeding, it takes more time for your period to come back for some reason I forgot lol, but I haven't yet gotten mine. I'm 4 months into breastfeeding.

Everyone is different. Some bleed for 6 weeks some bleed less than that some bleed more than that and some dont. And some women who breast feed dont bleed at all cuz all the hormones go to making the milk for the baby instead of the monthly period.

Its different for everyone my 1st it was 3weeks of bleeding and 2nd was about 2weeks. Some bleed for up to 8weeks. Unfortunately for us it takes that long to clean up our insides after homing a baby for 9months =)

I bled the whole six weeks with my first then it stopped for a week and then it came right back for about a week and went away. With my second it was about the same give or take a few days so I'm just assuming it'll be the same with this one. It's not horrible heavy bleeding for the whole 6 weeks. You bleed heavy for the first week or so and then it's not as bad.

Congratulations chels! :) If you're anemic, does that mean you bleed less or more?

What does breast feeding do? And is it really 6 weeks, or is it different for each person?

Yes. then you get your first period a couple weeks after your six week mark. Depending on if you're breastfeeding or not tho.
