Fallopian Tube Block

I was told by my doctor that I have both my tubes blocked based on an ultrasound taken in 2005 which was not noticed by another doctor who I was consulting then.

My current doctor says that I need an laparoscopy to check the tubes and to be removed if required. To check the tubes, is laparascopy must or an ultrasound would do?

I am not so good in knowing the medical terms. Is laparascopy is a kind of scan like ultrasound without puncturing your body? Or is it a surgery? shall I ask my family doctor to prescribe a ultrasound to get a second opinion

I really need to get an answer asap. please help.....................

Thanks,
Bhuvana

It is not a surgery either. They insert a catheder type tube into your cervix and insert the die from there. I have heard that it makes your crampy, but not puncturing involved.

I believe a laparoscopy is needed to tell this because they insert die into your tubes and then xray to see if the die comes out the ends, by this, they can tell if there is blockage. I almost had this done, but then ended up pregnant.
