False Postive??

Hello ladies!! I am new to post on here, but i have been reading on this forum for a while, i love how much i learn from all of you. Anyways, I was wondering how often you can get a false postive on a FRER?? So my story is last month i missed my period, i was on birth control, so i went to the docter and the blood test was negative and she said to wait until my next period. So I was suppose to start last friday June 28, but AF still has not shown, also i did get off birth control when i missed my last period. So i have been thinking getting off birth control delayed my period. Well last night i took a FRER and it was a LIGHT Positive, but it was there. AHHH! So i waited another four hours and took another FRER and this time it was NEGATIVE.  i know long, sorry. Anyways i was just wondering what you ladies thought because i value your opinion. I am going to try and get a blood test next monday, but i will still like to know if it is maybe to early or i had a fasle positive?? Thank you!

I am sorry that you had to go through that. That definitely *****! I am sure if i was you i would feel the same way about HPT's. I guess i will find out sooner or later if it was a false positive, then i might be along side of you in hating HPTs!

i just posted a question about this on the 28th. I ended up being a recipent of the "false positive" horror. I had a beta...negative so unfortunatley they do happen (i had 2 in the same day from different boxes of FRER).
However, they're rare so if you continue to get positives...it may be an indication that you ARE preggo. Unfortuantely the expensive blood tests are the only true definitive answers. i personally loathe HPT's now b/c of my recent experience..its really a cruel/hard game.

Thank you for your replys. I am calling my docter to get a blood test and i will probably retest tomorrow morning. Thanks!

false positives are not very common.  it could have bene an evaported line, or it could have eben you did not hold you urine long enough for hcg to build back up, espeically if you are newly pregnant.  i would say test again with firts morning urine and that will give you a better guess.

It could be an evap line.  I thought that's what I had because I had tested 3 days before AF should have shown.  It ended up being a true positive because I am indeed pregnant (blood test confirmed it).  But from my experience, getting off the pill seriously screwed up my cycles.  So a blood test would tell you for sure.  It is possible to get a false positive.  And since you are 4 days late I would think if you are pregnant it would show positive, but I have heard from many women that they have gotten negatives at the same time and still been pregnant.  Get a blood test done to put yourself at ease :)
