6 weeks no baby

How common is it to have an ultrasound at 6 weeks and have no baby seen on ultrasound?  
According to my MD, I am exactly 6weeks pregnant today; I went for a transvaginal ultrasound, but no signs of pregnancy seen on ultrasound.  My doctor tells me that my hormone levels are within normal range, but I am worried that I might have miscarried.  I was pregnant two years ago (at age 26) and I had a miscarriage with no explanation.  I have a very good idea of when I conceived.  Based on that date, I should be 4 weeks pregnant.  Is it too early based on that, for anything to be seen on an ultrasound.  I have had cramping, but no bleeding.  I am wondering if I am or have had a miscarriage.  I did take Clomid to assist with my ovulation, I am curious whether or not this has anything to do with nothing being seen on the ultrasound.  Any feedback with this would be greatly appreciated.  I am trying very hard to stay positive, but I am almost at the point of giving up.

I went in at 5w6d and same thing no baby no heart beat. These women are right dont worry. Its far too soon. Every women is different. some see it at 6w some dont untill up to 10 weeks. I go back in 2 day to see whats up. Wish me luck! and GOOD LUCK to you.

i had a trans vaginal ultrasound done at exactly 6 weeks...they saw nothing..only a possible gestational sac (the technician thought it was just a pocket of fluid from my previous d&c) There was no heartbeat..or echo...my doctor was concerned but when i had my ultrasound at 10 weeks there was a perfect baby in there!

My sister just had this issue and she's panicking because she was hoping to see her baby and the nurse was very negative sorta speak is there still hope

yes, that was the date from my LMP. 5w6d. I know when I conceived. I'm 15w2d now. It's easy to miss a pregnancy that early. We didn't even see it on the abdominal u/s until after 6weeks. I had transvaginal first.

Thank you for your encouragement.  I really  hope that you are right.  Your 5weeks/6days and baby was seen on u/s,  was that the day from your LMP or from the date you conceived?  Again thank you.  I am definitely trying to be positive...it's very difficult.

If you are 4 week's, when you probably won't see a heartbeat until your at least 7 or 8 weeks... I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do you pregnant?

If your pregnant and only 4 weeks, your levels may be perfect and nice and high, but you may not see anything on U/S. I didn't see anything at my 4 week 3-4day U/S then went back a week later and saw a sac and heartbeat! (5w6d)

I also had an HSG done 2/19/08 and was told my tubes were partially blocked.
