First Internal Ultrasound Problem-empty sac

From the begining, I found out I was pregnant Aug. 28, I am unsure of my LMP, I thought it was around the July 30.  My husband and I started trying to concieve in August.  I went to the Dr Office a couple of weeks ago and they said my due date would be around May 4, based on what I thought my LMP was.  I had my first internal ultrasound Sept 30. and there were 2 sacs but nothing in the sacs.  They then did a detailed ultrasound and the sacs only measure 5 weeks.  They said if I am really 9 weeks pregnant there is a problem, and the fetus' stopped developing, but if i am only 5 weeks pregnant then everything looks fine.  The doctor said all we can do is wait.  They did check my HCG levels that same day, the nurse called me this morning and told me the levels were 15349, and she would call me back monday with today's results.

Can anyone tell me if 15349 is a good number for a twin pregnancy at 5 weeks, and can a due date based on what i thought was my LMP be wrong.

Unfortunately there is a broad span on the normal HCG levels.  And everyone is different.  The only thing you can do is wait and see how the levels rise and what your next u/s shows.  Have you scheduled another u/s?

Well the numbers differ for every woman and every pregnancy.... i am thinking that its not so much the amount but that they double every 48 hours or so.....I would definately wait to see if the numbers from today have risen....Good Luck!!!

When you confirmed pregnancy in august was it hpt or blood test. Either way you would have to have been at least 3 weeks to get a positive which would have made your ultrasound at least 7 weeks. When do you go back?Did they even find a yolk sac? I hope everything turns out well on your next visit

I'm not sure about the levels.... I do know that i had a similiar instance a few years ago. I found out i was pregnant by a hpt, i went to the doc and everything was good. 4 weeks later i went back, and there was nothing in the sac. It was called a blighted ovum. Basically she said it stopped developing. She was going to check it a few days later to make sure, but i ended up miscarrying. I do pray  that is not your situation... I know exactly how hard that is to deal with. It's hard enough when you're not trying to conceive and have a surprise... even more difficult if you were trying.... Do let us know what you find out though...
