achondroplasia diagnosis

I was told my baby had short arms and legs and was then asked to see a specialist for it.  When I did the specialist said my baby has dwarfism.  Her fingers where a little stubby and her arms and legs where very behind.  I asked if maybe there was a chance she was just small because I am very petite and the doctor said she was extremely short so the chances are slim.  My question is if they didn't find anything else wrong with the baby could they be wrong in saying she has dwarfism??  In 8 weeks could my baby turn out to be just fine and just a little short??

mauigurl~ you know what, they are usually right but can be wrong. IF your baby has dwarfism, it's not the worst thing in the world.

My baby boy was born with Down Syndrome and EHK my rare genetic skin condition. He's gone thru SO much. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I just know that even with our case things COULD be worse! :)

Her head size was normal and everything else looked normal.  He took a 3D picture of her and in one she looks ok but in the other I can't really tell.

Usually, the specialist is pretty accurate when they make a diagnosis since they have been trained in this area and have years of expereince with this type of diagnosis.  Did they say anything about any of your babys other measurements being on target or behind?  For example, was anything mentioned about head size?
