Gestational Diabetes test.

I have my gestational diabetes/glucose test on Friday. The nurse told me to eat normal throughout the day, I don't have to fast, but not to eat/drink anything overly sugary. My question is, I drink one ginger ale a day (the little can, 8oz or else I get extreme headaches) and I don't know if I should drink it before (not directly before, but earlier that day), because I want accurate results, or would not drinking it before my test give me a false result?? I don't know if this makes sense, but if you understand it please reply, haha.

Really?! Well I have a thyroid problem so I get tested for that every month, so we both have excessive blood tests I guess!

Good luck...I also agree that if you normally have ginger ale, to have it.  You want the test to be accurate and based on normalcy.

And those Reeses Easter Eggs sound way too good!

Good luck! I hope you pass as well. I'm nervous myself about my upcoming glucose tests (they're testing me every trimester because I have PCOS and diabetes is associated with that condition; I don't have diabetes so hoping I don't get GD). I've passed the first one for the first trimester. I'm just worried about later on, especially because ALL I want is chocolate!!! I just bought Reeses Easter Egg things while at the grocery store today, too. Not helping my case, am I?! Ha ha!

Okay thank you, my mother and both grandmothers have diabetes, and I know history of diabetes in the family gives me an increased chance of having GD, so I want to get accurate results, hopefully I pass it!

Eat as you normally would; so drink your Ginger Ale whenever you usually drink it. You definitely want accurate results because if you do have GD you need to be very careful. I don't think one little Ginger Ale is going to send someone into gestational diabetes either, so go ahead and drink it when you normally drink it!
