Got results from my gestational diabetes today...

My doctor called and said I was boderline and they want me to come in for the 3 hr test.... should I be worried? I am very stressed about this now.... I am 27 weeks and 6 days today. Has anyone else failed the test?

well there is an EXTREMELY high rate of people who fail or borderline fail the 1 hr glucose test.  As I said I've failed it with THREE pregnancies.  You have a very good chance of passing the 3 hr.  Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it until you find out the results from this next test.  Besides if the doc is saying you are borderline on your 1 hr, that means you didn't really go over the level, you were probably right at it, which is a REALLY good sign and gives you an increased chance that you will pass the 3 hr.  I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax and don't get worked up just yet...wait and see what the 3 hr results are.

They said that yeah I was borderline, but didn't give me any special diet. They just told me to fast for 8 hours.... Im a bit stressed about it, I have had so many problems during this pregnancy with rashes, and infections and generally getting every symptom in the book lol. I just hope that I don't have this on top of everything else.

Don't worry until you get the results of the 3 hr.  I'm assuming the test you just took was the 1 hr?  I've failed the 1 hr test with 3 different pregnancies including this one and have had to do the 3 hr all 3 times.  With the first 2 I did fine on the 3 hr, with this one the doc said I was borderline and just told me to watch my starch and sugar intake.  Did your doc give you a special diet to follow for 3 days prior to the test?  You should eat a high carb diet for 3 days before the test.  I think it should be approx 150 carbs/day.  Then fast for atleast 12 hours before going in.

I think the reason I showed borderline on this past 3 hr test is becuase my doc didn't say ANYTHING to me about the diet etc.  Just had me fast for 8 hours.  With my other two I was given a special diet where I could only choose from certain foods for certain meals and I had to fast for 12 hours and both of those tests came out fine.

Ty! I am just nervous... I am now 28 weeks and have gained 18-20lbs during the whole pregnancy. I lost weight at first, and now I seem to be packing it back on lol.

I take my test probably next wednesday, my husband will drop me off and go to work and come back when it is done :)
Uggg i hate having to fast for so long too.... 8 hours then the 3 hour test... yuck.

i failed both and have gestational diabetes.  Its not as bad as i thought it would be.  The worst part is having to check my blood sugar 4-5 times a day.  Other then that i have been really lucky, I am able to keep my level under control with just diet therefore no medication is needed and no bad side affects are happening to the bab y.  I WOULDN'T read anything about it online though, if you fail the 3 hour then wait until they send you to the dietian, I scared the hell out of myself with everything i read before i spoke with her about it.  If ya need to talk i'll be here LOL

i wouldn't worry yet...  you could very well pass your 3hr.  i've never had to take it myself, but i've read on here by others that its not that uncommon to fail your first one and then pass your next one.  good luck!!!  when do you have to take it?

I too had borderline gestational diabetes and I just had to watch my food intake closely. I don't know for sure what your doctor might say but I wouldn't worry because the doctor can advise on what to do to make it better. Hope that helps. Lots of luck!!!!!
