my babies was 170 at 9 weeks, and is now in the 140s in the 16th.
it is normal for it to start slow when it first starts beating and peaks around week 9. around week 12 it will start to decline and settle, now that the baby is bigger and the heart is more efficient.
Babys heart rate will typically range from 120-180 beats per minute. The actual value depends on how active your little one is at a given time. A baby kicking or moving causes heart rate to increase significantly much like the effect we get when exercising.
Mine was 185 at 8 weeks and a few days as well, and now at 20 weeks it's in the 160's I wouldn't worry about it.
A babies heartrate can go up significantly in early pregnancy...It will continue to stay "higher" until late pregnancy. A fetus' heartrate is much higher than a normal persons. I think what you have described sounds very normal, but if it concerns you, talk withyour doc.
WAIT.. found it on an old post - hope this helps
Starting at week 5 the fetal heart will accelerate at a rate of 3.3 beats per day for the next month.
The fetal heart begins to beat at approximately the same rate as the mothers, which is 80 to 85 bpm. Below illustrates the approximate fetal heart rate for weeks 5 to 9, assuming a starting rate of 80
Week 5 starts at 80 and ends at 103 bpm
Week 6 starts at 103 and ends at 126 bpm
Week 7 starts at 126 and ends at 149 bpm
Week 8 starts at 149 and ends at 172 bpm
At week 9 the fetal heartbeat tends to beat within a range of 155 to 195 bpm.
The fetal heart rate will begin to decrease and generally will fall within the range of 120 to 160 bpm by week 12.
I will post again when I get into the office - but the heartrate goes ups kind of like the hcg - however it is a fewbeats evey couple of days until like 13 weeks - I have the link saved at work so I will paste it.. My early heartbeat at 6 weeks was like 128 then it went to the 170s - once it was in the 180's - I am 21 weeks now and it has slowed and is between 150 and 170. I would not worry
my little girls heart rate is usually between 140 and 170. Just like adults, when baby is sleeping they will have a slower, steadier heart rate and when they are awake and bouncing around in there it will go up. That doesn't actually sound too high, but if you're concerned talk to your OB. I know that with infants when they get upset their heart rate can spike into the 190's and low 200's.
