Referred to Perinatologist...anyone been to one?

So I just got a letter from my OB referring me to a perinatologist. This past monday 8/20 she got the results from my first ever ultrasound since we found out 2 weeks ago that I was pregnant. They called me monday and told me based on the U/S I was 12 weeks and I needed to go in on 8/21 the next day for blood work and then the following day 8/22 for the nuchal translucency U/S. I asked the nurse if they notfied anything abnormal on the first US and she said no that those were routine tests. At this point I haven't yet met with my ob only with the RN. Now I just got this letter dated 8/21 being referred to the specialist. I'm so worried and wondering why i haven't heard about this. I'm wondering since I haven't seen the doc the nurse doesn't want to say anything? The letter says procedures to be done that I don't understand so its soooo irritating. And ***** i have to wait til monday to call my doc :( Anyone else been through a similar situation??

My doc automatically sends his patients to the perinatal office for more advanced u/s. I went to one for my anatomy scan &' they were the ones to tell me what I'm having &' read me the results of my blood tests for down syndrome etc. Good luck:)

I had never heard of a perinatologist before so I looked it up. It said some mothers are referred if a dr thinks the mother could be high risk.

I've been and am going back.  Everything is fine with my baby so they referred me to get a better u/s with their more advanced equipment.  The one at the ob is definitely less cool looking :)
