The other thing is, sometimes if they seem to rush you it is because they see something and are concerned. My labor was 27 hours, then we tried forceps, and then the doctor called it and they did a C-section within 5 minutes. And it was a good long minute or more before my son took a breath and cried, and I could tell all the medical personnel in the room were holding their breath too. They RAN him into the infant nursery after he did cry. I came away with no doubts about the value of C-sections.
Main thing is, in all seriousness, your goal was to come home with a healthy baby, and you did. YOU WIN!!! lol
ps -- It hurts to get over natural childbirth too.
Poor sweetie :( i know it must feel like you 'failed' and i seriously think every dr should talk to there patient about this, lucky me my dr did. When i told him i wanted an all natural birth the firat thing he saud was 'thats a good plan but....' he then proceed to talk to me about c-section and epidural the pros and the cons and he said we would all do your best to do a natural birth but if anything did happen 'dont feel like you failed' the goal is to get a healthy baby out. Everyone in the room aim for that and it may feel like theyve rushed you into a c-section but believe it when they say they dont like doing surgery. It may be 'easier' in a way (takes less time) but it is still major surgery and drs never like those. Look at it as you won! You won a beautiful baby, you won a family, you won and went threw major surgery and already your taking care ofan angel :) Doesnt matter how it happened as long as you have a beautiful baby in your arms, you havent failed anyone and definately not yourself :)
Thank you so much AnnieBrooke!! That helps. I just feel like they rushed my delivery and didn't give me a chance. But the goal is a healthy baby and I got her so maybe I just need to get over it.
Well, childbirth is not a test that gives you a bad grade if you do not push her out. The point is to get the smiling baby out of the smiling mama and to do it any way consistent with life and health. If a C is what it took, so what? (Please believe me, there are way more stillbirths in this country than one would suspect. They didn't do a C section for fun.) You win if you have a wonderful, healthy baby, and that is all that counts.
