I'm personally a big fan of bbt...my midwife and ob/gyn are as well.  I do agree with kiki though that it should not be the only method you use...you should also rely on secondary indicators such as cm (like Joy) and other bodily changes.

You do need to do it during AF and EVERY day...it will take up to three months to get an accurate pattern and for it to be really helpful!

Check  out the website fertilityfriend . com  It is very informative...allows you to sign up for a free 30 day VIP membership which you can keep afterwards if you want to pay (I liked it so much I signed up) or you can just switch to their FREE membership.

Good luck!

I think BBT is a good tool for confirmation. I don't think it should be used alone, I highly recomend keeping with OPK as well as BBT. I started using mine the first day of my cycle. Just be VERY consistant. keep it on your night stand right by your bed. I would have that thing shoved in my mouth b4 I opened my eyes. I also had an alarm so it would be takin the same time everyday. Consistancy is the key. I f you look at my chart you can see you have to scroll back to Aug, cuz I totally got my BFP!!! But it was very easy for me to interperate. GOOD LUCK to you! I hope you have the same BBT beginners luck as I did! LOL I was ttc for 5 yrs, and the 1st month we started tracking bbt we got PG! Of course I don't think thats why but it did help ease my mind at test time as far as my temps staying high and such!

I'm not a fan of BBT and I know most doctors aren't either because there are too many variables and each woman's body is different. That's why the other ladies suggset you get to know your body first because yours will be unique.

I use the CM method. This is my fifth pregnancy and four of the times I've gotten pregnant I used this method. Basically have sex when you have cervical mucous (CM). Your body produces the CM when you are preparing for ovulation and during ovulation.

I agree w/ tarajanes 100%.  And you won't be able to get a really good read until you have charted for one full month, so don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen this month.  BUT, you could still get lucky and get pregnant this month.  I am just saying that you will have a better picture of your pre o and post o temps after charting for 1 full cycle.

Good luck!!!

I personally chart right through my cycle even during af.so women start few days after.by doing it right through your cycle it will help you have better picture of your body.
keep a thermometer under your pillow, this is what i do,you need to take temperture every day same time.before getting out of bed,try not to move around to much..hence why put it under the pillow, you could use the free chart on fertilityfriend.com
its a good site, gives you loads of info.sorry af turned up,but im sure when you start charting you will get there.
