Like everyone said, the testing is up to you. I didn't do the cystic fibrosis test but I did to the quad screen for down's etc.
Yay for hearing the hb! What an exciting milestone!
That's so wonderful you heard the heartbeat!!! I can't wait to hear my baby's...I still have a few more weeks for that! As far as testing and whatnot, it's completely up to you. If it helps ease your mind, then do it. I tend too worry too much during pregnancy, but once I get an u/s and they tell me everything is normal and looks great, I can relax just a bit. I think you and baby are just fine, but like I said, if it eases your mind, you can get testing done. I don't have insurance. so for me it would be costly. Good luck!
a lot of people choose not to hace the test becuase there are lots of false positives and people get upset for no reason and have to go though more test and worrying for no reason. Others choose to get it done so they don't have to worry. Some Dr's are more keen on you having, others agree its not accurate and don't push it. So it's really up tp you. Personally i didn't have it the first pregnacny but didn't have a choice with my second because i lost my 1st to a chromosone defect (but it wouldn't have shown up anyways).
The highlight of your visits will be hearing the heartbeat!!!! The heartbeat can be hard to find. sometimes Dr won't try until afte 14 weeks, mine found it a 10 weeks, then at the next appointment weeks later the next Dr couldn't find it and said...don't worry its early yet (then i explained we had heard it already and he got another doppler and found it)
