I wish you the best of luck! Trust me I know what you're going through. It's a stressful time and I'm sure you have many mixed emotions. Try not to stress too much about it and enjoy your pregnancy! I do wish you the best of luck!!!
Thank you for all of your responses. Now I feel better cas of your encouragements. Yeah in 16 wk , they will do the fetal echocardiogram. Hope for good result.
Also forgot to add since you did have a "increased" nuchal fold. They will probably recommend a fetal echocardiogram. It focuses on the heart and looks for any abnormalities. They prefer to wait until atleast week 18 to give the heart time to develop. Again my daughter had a 6.0 nuchal fold and is fine and healthy. Best of Luck to you!
Agreed with other posters. My daughter had an NT of 6.0 and she is perfect. I wouldn't worry about a 2.8. There is variation from doctor to doctor some consider 2.5 to be normal and some even consider 3.0 to be normal. Also take into consideration their measurements could be off. The baby has to be in the perfect position to get the exact measurement and the technician could have easily been off by .2. I understand your worry as every woman wants a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby so get as informed as you can. If you are worried you can get an amnio or a CVS test, there is a small risk of miscarriage with either of those tests, but the risk is small and most who do miscarry from the procedure would have miscarried either way. If you feel you need the test to put your mind at ease so you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy I would talk to your doctor. There is also a level II ultrasound you can get (usually around 18-22 weeks) that can show soft markers for down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities or can show no markers and help put your mind at ease. I would also like to point out that there are pregnancies that show a normal NT thickness and no soft markers for a chromosomal abnormality, and the outcome is that the fetus does have an abnormality. Vice versa, there are some that show a high NT and soft markers, and go on to have healthy babies. I hope some of that helped you. I wish you the best of luck and truly hope your baby is healthy. Good Luck!
my daughter had an NT of 5.2 so alot bigger then yours and my daughter is a healthy 9 month old now. A normal NT is 2.5 so yours is no that big at all. Do worry about it, just ask your doc lots of questions. You will be fine.
2.8 is not high.. dont worry!
