Is it normal to be too scared?

I'm so afraid to give birth.
I'm being induced on Saturday night and I'm terrified. I'm terrified of the process and I'm terrified that I'm going to be a terrible mom.
Also my baby is already 9 pounds with a head measuring bigger then his body.. I'm scared that I'll dialate too fast before I can get an epidural. I'm terrible with pain. Terrible. I don't think I could take it.
I just need some advice or some comfort or anything!

I'm a ftm so I don't know what labor feels like but I read something that made me stop thinking of the pain and look forward to birth... Labor isn't pain like breaking a leg or cracking your skull, it's a pain that means something a pain that will give you happiness when it's over a pain that you will find yourself loving! I hope this helps you as much as it did me goodluck and keep us updated

This is my first pregnancy too (but I'm only 2 months along so far). I've talked to my mom about being nervous and unsure about giving birth. She has been a great mother to myself and my two siblings and will make a wonderful grandma, but she said that when she had her first, she was terrified too. There's suddenly a completely innocent person who is fully relying on you to take care of him or her. Basically, you can take parenting classes and read books and do all that you can leading up to the baby, but when the time comes, you'll know what to do. :) Thats the maternal instinct that God has given us (not to say that we will make mistakes at times too). I will pray for you and your growing family, but I also encourage you to get to know other couples at a church or a support group that have been there. You don't have to do this alone! You're not the first mom... You can do this!

You will be fine trust me i hate pain its like the worst i cant even take period cramps without feelin like im about to die but with my first born it was hard and i was afraid of feeling a lot of pain but i did it i had a c section and once i left the hospital didn't take any meds due to the fact that i didn't want to depend on meds when im in pain like my mom so dealt with the pain and still was able to tend to my baby and move around and deal with it so you will be fine trust me you will forget about the pain once your baby comes
