Just a reminder!

Don't forget to add your baby to your insurance after birth. Most insurances give you 30 days to do it. If you don't add the baby they will not cover the baby's bill for birth (yes, you and your baby will both be getting billed, even if they sleep in your room). I work as an insurance biller and we get denials all the time because the parents didn't add the baby to their insurance. Usually the total of the bills for newborns can be around $2,000.

I believe Medicaid will pay for the birth if you apply within their time limit. I do mostly commercial insurances, we have a separate lady that does Medicaid so I am not 100% certain.

What about Medicaid? Do you know anything about that? I have to wait until the baby is born to apply, will they pay for hospital bills?

Also, it doesn't hurt to call your insurance company during pregnancy to ask their policy. Every insurance is different, while the norm is 30 days, your insurance could require it sooner.
