How often are ultrasounds correct?

How often are ultrasounds correct about the estimated weight of little ones?

Here's a funny story:

The ultrasound tech had told me that my little man was weighing 8 lbs and 10 oz and then told me not to tell the labor & delivery nurse that she had told me. She was taking weight calculations the entire time btw. Well when the nurse came in i asked his estimated weight and she lied straight to my face saying they do not take weight calculations with these ultrasounds. Gave me a good laugh!

I can't remember exactly what weight I was told with my first, but they had done extra u/s on me and everytime said my baby would be small and she was 8lb 6oz. I don't really put much stock in weight estimates..

Definitely can be off a ways, everyone I've talked to their babies were off within 1-2lbs. My little man was supposed to be 7 1/2 and ended up being almost 9, my SIL's was supposed to be over 8 1/2, and she ended up being a little over 6. It's like trying to weight an adult in a pool, it's definitely not accurate.

They said my first was 6 lbs even 3 days before i delivered. She was born at 7 lbs 8 oz.

This one they told me was 6 lbs at 32 weeks pregnant and i REALLY REALLY hope they are wrong!!
