TMI or not?

So as some of you may remember, I'm potty training DS. He wanted to go potty so we let him run around without a diaper because usually when he says he needs to go it's not long after that he goes to the potty to get put on it and go. So the other day he started to poop on the floor, and I grabbed him and ran to the bathroom and put him on the potty. So I posted on my Facebook that Elijah had pooped in the potty, and even though he had an accident on the floor he had gone on the potty....someone replied to it "sorry but that's tmi for us who don't have kids" This is the first time of my many "Elijah went ____ on the potty" that someone has said this. My FB is made up of family and HS friends...this was a HS friend who has "liked" my status when I said he went on the potty before...so is that TMI to be sharing or what? I can't help but be excited, my baby boy is learning to poop and pee on the potty. I'm proud of him. I see all kinds of vulgar, disgusting comments by other people on their FB statuses, but this is about my son growing up...so TMI or not?

JoyRenee, I hear you there!

30something13, That's too funny. She may as not go into public restrooms either, you know some mom will probably be in there asking their kid if they're done. I even heard one little girl saying she couldn't go and maybe she should try to push harder! Lol. It was funny, and it was obviously she was trying to poop but it wasn't disgusting, it was a little girl who had to go.

Any "Mommy" can relate and it is not TMI! Hey we are aloud to get excited about every milstone no matter what it is! It does nto sound like she has kids! If she did nad had been changing diapers for 2 years she would be excited that her child was getting the ahng of it! Great milestone to independence! Guess she shoudl not go to book stores and have the chance to see potty books in the kids isle huh LOL

Amen to that! If she doesn't like it she can always unfriend you or hide your updates. People are entirely too sensitive sometimes!

I'm not sure of her feelings towards children, but this isn't the first time I've posted something like this. It is the first time I've posted about pooping on the potty, but peeing has been posted multiple times. I mean, it's a bodily function no matter what, we all do it and if it's gross to hear about something you do yourself...than she has some issues. I mean she has to wipe her own butt...but oh well, I'm over it and I'm not gonna edit my status just because one person said something...it's not required by facebook for you to read and comment on every person's status just to be able to keep your account.

Yeah pee/poop really isn't bad. Don't really see what her deal is. Is she really a kid-friendly person? I know some childless people never ever ever want to have kids and just don't like them.

Thank you ladies so much, Elijah has been peeing more in the potty, but no more pooping yet. I'm so thrilled that he says potty when he needs to go. I'm hoping by the time this baby is born in Dec that he'll be completely potty trained, so I'll only have one in diapers. He already doesn't go at night anymore, he's always dry when he wakes up.

I happen to agree that it's different when you don't have kids. But if they don't like that, they would absolutely hate my friend! Let me quote her..."so...this afternoon, I let the kids outside to play before bedtime and while I was looking for shoes, I hear "Mommy! I pooped in the grass!" My ecstatic son was very happy about the present he left for me by the back door which was not in fact "in the grass" but on the patio. I'm telling this one to his future girlfriends." Wonder how bad that would offend them?No one makes them read about our babies and I'm sure they would be beyond ticked if you said the same about some of their statuses. Tell them to get over it. Or go away. I've learned that just cuz you went to school with somone does NOT mean you have to stay in touch. And, btw, good for you! 21 months is WONDERFUL for a baby to be pooping-yes I said poop lol-in the potty. Or on the floor:)

It IS  a  very exciting time and you have every right to be proud of him....it's a huge milestone!!  I just about threw a party the first time Daniel pooed on the potty LOL  I think that when you become a parent, your idea of what is gross and TMI with regards to bodily functions really changes!

JoyRenee~~~That is a good point, but I've seen a lot worse than pee/poop on this person and other people's FB that we are common friends with. So if pee/poop offends her, than she needs to be spending a lot of time leaving nasty notes for other people.

I post the same stuff on FB all the time. Even my childless friends have said a big, "Yay!" for my 3 yr old FINALLY going potty. I don't use the words pee/poop though. I just say she went potty like a big girl. Maybe the word poop set them off?

I agree that it's absolutely fine..I've posted about Kahlan's potty escapades before. And the other day my status read "ohhhh somebody pooped in their pants and I'm fairly sure it wasn't me...." and everyone thought it was hilarious....so I guess somebody just had a stick up their butt to think your status was TMI.

It's YOUR facebook page.  No one is forcing this idiot to read your status updates or anythign else.  And if they don't like your "updates" they know how to remove you as a friend and not check your page. I wouldn't apologize to this person, my reply would have been "no one held a gun to your head and made you read it"

dscoqn~~~It was serious, it wasn't joking.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who would be offended by the comment. I mean, I'm so excited he's starting to tell us he needs to go potty. I hear so many people talk about how hard it is to potty train, especially boys...so I'm thrilled that Elijah, at 21 months likes going on the potty, and does it often. I didn't comment back I'm just going to ignore it and if I post something again and someone says something else, I'll just tell them they don't have to read my comments.

I agree with what all of you are saying but maybe just maybe they were saying it in a joking kind of way rather than a mean way.  Is it a friend that usually jokes around a lot or are they usually quite serious??  I know from experience things can get misconstrued (spelling??) on facebook and txt because you can't hear the tone of what they are saying when it's not face to face.  On the other hand, if they are serious then tell them to p i s s off LOL

Wow! I have been trying with Richie for the longest time and we are definitely having a hard time! He is so stubborn! I would write it everywhere I could... The person who wrote it just doesn't have kids and don't know what it is like to love a child and be so proud that it can make your heart burst...

i always post new things (including going potty on the potty) on my facebook. and like frank_noahsmommy said if anyone made a negative comment about my children hitting a major mile stone such as going potty...they're unfriended. if the comment is too much for them...they really don't have to read it.
