oxycontin

I take oxycontin for pains related with crohn's disease and back pain. My wife and I are trying to have a baby in about 6 months. My wife does not take any medications. Is it safe for trying to have a baby when I take oxycontin?? I take anywhere from 40mg to 80mg a day depending on my pain. If have inflamation or ulcertive colitis I take more for pain. If I am ok.....I take less. Again, my wife does not take any medications. It's just me......should I stop taking this medicine?? or is it ok to go ahead and try for a baby??

It won't affect the baby if conception happens but if you aren't conceiving I would get a sperm analysis done to make sure it isn't affecting sperm production, motility, or morphology any of which may make it difficult to get pregnant.

hagface~ you need to speak to your OBGYN about it. From what others on this site have told me there ARE meds you can take for chronic pain. I've gotta ask my OB today about it since I have chronic pain from a back injury.

you should be OK to try for a baby... what you'd need to ask the dr. about would be if it affects your sperm counts. :)

I would talk to your doctor about it to be sure.
My first son was conceived while my fiance was abusing oxy's (I know you aren't abusing) and he is fine, we had no problems.  Good luck TTC!
