I prefer my midwife because she listens to me and doesn't tell me what my body can and cannot do. She is more personal I have seen her every single time. She is very very very professional and is just as experienced as an ob except she doesn't do surgery. I Don like hospitals because when you go they are preparing you for the worst. "You have to have an iv hp lock "just in case". You can't eat "just in case". You have to wear this hospital gown "just in case". I am having a homebirth and "just in case" anything happens I live 5 minutes away from a hospital. Anything can happen but it is wrong going into a hospital basically set up for a c section.
I think it really depends in the person and just finding the right doctor or midwife for you, I'm a ftm and 28 weeks along, and love my doctor, yes she does have to be quick with her time with us but always makes sure to tell us what we need to know and give us time for any concerns or questions we've had since our last appointment, she is awesome, and so even tho I'm having a complication free pregnancy, I'd still rather have a doctor that already knows us and how things have been going just incase there is a problem at some point
I agree with the above comment but I prefer a doctor. Although you have to wait outside to meet your doctor and he wants you to move out quickly to check his other patients, he is has specialized knowledge in what we are up to. He will be precise and If we have any complications he might keep us for long otherwise he wouldn't. Always go for a consultant (obstetrician). It depends upon your preference and comfort.
I'm seeing midwife now I really prefer her to the docs! I think midwifes make it more personal where the doctors just want you in and out as fast as possible! There is less waiting time for midwife than doc also unless there is problems with pregnancy I don't think there's any need to see a doctor! That's my opinion anyway :)
