Maternity Photos?

Would it be rediculous to take my own maternity pictures to try an save money?
Or would it be better just to pay somebody to profesionaly do them?

My cousin did them for me.  She took photography in highschool but I don't see how having your bf/husband or a friend taking them could be that bad and saving money is never ridiculous.

It was like a big digicam...nothing flash or high-tech, all we did was hung up black cloth behind me and on the floor to sit on (made it easier when she blacked out the background) and I was just in undies draped in white tulle around my top and bottom with my bare belly exposed...they were simple, but once they were done on photoshop (all she did was make them black and white really, some of them had a tinge of colour) they looked absolutely gorgeous :) you just need to get creative :)

@ kate_85 - when your friend took your photos did you guys use a fancy high tec camera or was it just an ordinary fit in your purse type digital camera? Im  worried that becuase all i have is a  ordinary digital that we wouldnt be able to get proper lighting or they just really wouldnt turn out.

@ acline93 ive tried that route an either i dont know the proper place to look or people just want a lot to do it, lowest hubby an i could find was 80$ an all you got was 10 pictures(edited) on disk an if you wanted more you had to pay extra the prices seem to be for what we want around 400-600$ an we dont even want much i just want a decent amount of pictures (atleast 20 edited) an one or 2 printed.

I ended up getting a friend to do mine, and then she altered them on photoshop (just made them black & white and added splashes of colour) and they turned out better than any photos I've seen done professionally...I nearly cried when I saw them, they were absolutely beautiful!! So you don't necessarily need a professional charging you craploads to take your photos :)

I went to Sears Portrait Studio and spent a whopping $40!

You could always find a photographer that's trying to build up his/her portfolio. Many of my friends have done that for very cheap, or even free.
