Please Help!

Hi All,

I am 28 years old and I have been suspecting whether or not I could be pregnant. For the last week I have experienced many symptoms of being pregnant that vary greatly from my usual pms symptoms. I am due to start my period 5/7 but started cramping heavily yesterday( I NEVER start my period early) to the point of near fainting. I also began a tiny bit of spotting of what looked more like a dark discharge rather than blood...the bleeding is flowing more but still not like a normal period.

I have been feeling a tingling sensation as if something is pushing on my bladder over the last few days. I went to the emergency room and had the unfortunate experience of a really horrible doctor with very bad bedside manner. Having no insurance, I was given less than appropriate care for my condition. An ultrasound was not done. He did a pelvic exam and decided I have a urinary tract infection... apparently enough so to cause some bleeding because he didn't believe this was the beginning of my period. However, I have had a UTI before and it does not burn when I urinate and I have no fever. I would think if I had an infection bad enough to cause bleeding I would have a fever.

The pregnancy test I was given at the hospital came back negative but I was told by hospital staff because I am not due for my period I could possibly be pregnant and would have to wait and take another test. Could this be implantation bleeding or possible ectopic pregnancy?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. My anxiety is escalating. I am very concerned not only for my health but the health of my baby if I am in fact pregnant. Thank you.

You could try the First Response test, which is supposed to work up to five days before your missed period now.  I would take it with your first morning urine, because the HcG level is said to be stronger.  Hopefully you'll have your answer soon enough!  Good luck.

I would say definitely take another home test when your period is due. It is too early for an ectopic pregnancy (because the signs wouldn't show for 5-6 weeks gestation) and it could very well be implantation bleeding and if it is a test wouldn't be positive until 3-4 days after the bleeding ends. It could also be just the beginning of an off period also, but if the bleeding stops then definitely give it a few days and take a test. Good luck to you!
