Okay so I am 22 years old and I will admit I am still afraid to go to the dentist, I have horrible pain with 2 of my back molers, one on each side. Last time I went my dentist (before I got pregnant) he had told me there was an infection begining and to go to a specialist...I didn't and here I am in so much pain. Didn't think I was going to get pregnant so soon after my first, so now they can't to X-rays on me. I've heard dental problems can affect your baby...IS THIS TRUE!!???

Yes my infection was so severe I had to get a root canal.  Infection can spread to your bloodstream, and can cause undeniable persistent pain that you will have no option to have a debtal operation before it gets that bad.  I must say a tooth infection is one of the worst pain ever to endure.feel like your head is abour to explode. Depends on the severity of tooth problem as well.

I had to get a root canal while I was 21 weeks pregnant,  the tooth ache was too painful for me to wait it out. Therefore, my dentist had to get a signed release waiver from my Ob/GYN Doctor informing dentist what all is restricted under a pregnant patient.because if dentist have a xray done on a pregnant patient they are held liable if shall any birth defects occurs.  Can harm the mother and or the unborn baby

Dental problems wont affect your baby! Xrays on the other hand, are frowned upon when using on pregnant women. There is no evidence that it causes any abnormalities in unborn babies, but they are not willing to risk it. Problems that stem from dental problems will affect you such as pain etc. You may have to ask to get it pulled. They can administer a numbing agent via needle straight into your gum.

They should still be able to do an x ray just make sure to tell them you are pregnant so they can properly protect your belly. You NEED to go see that specialist ASAP!! Any infection is not good especially with baby. Go get yourself taken care of.

Yes. It's true. Usually x rays are okay as long as.their not done constantly, the same with ultrasounds but Talk to your doctor about the x rays and get that taken care of before it gets worse.
