HCG Levels

I got my pregnancy confirmed yesterday.  At the doctor's office the nurse told me I was early in my pregnancy because the pink line on the urine test wasn't bold, but you could definitely see it.  They said I was 4 weeks (per my LMP).  I had my first HCG test yesterday and my number was 289.  My SIL said when she was 4 weeks her HCG was 1716.  Now I'm getting worried.  A website I looked at said 3-426 was the normal range for 28 days (LMP).  Should I worry?

call him and tell him you want it drawn within the 72 hour timespan.  they will do it for yuo if you ask them and tell them your nervous.

Thank you for your response.  I know that there is a broad range with the numbers.  But, I can't help but worry.  Hopefully my doctor will call me in the morning to come do another draw and I can see then what the numbers are doing.  Thanks again.

i was only 42 my first blood work and 89 two days later.  the number does not matter as long as it doubles every 48-72 hours.  Congrats

they won't know for sure how far along you until you have an u/s. They can only guess at this point. If you ovulated later than normal, you could be less than 4 weeks. Once you get a repeat test, that will tell you more about what's going on. Hope everything goes well for you this time!

My dr. is out today, so another doctor read the results.  I have to wait until tomorrow for my dr. to come in and suggest what to do.  I don't think I'm 4 weeks, just because we didn't have sex when they think I ovulated.  I had sex a week earlier and then the week following.  My levels never doubled last time and I m/c so with this pregnancy they are supposed to track it just to ease my mind.  Which I thought all was fine and now I'm worried about the numbers.

Everyone is different when it comes to HCG levels. You are right in range if you are 4 weeks along. But the most important thing is that the numbers continue to double every 48-72 hours. Are you scheduled for more blood work yet?
