questions about csection

I know i could look these questions up but id rather here from personal experiences. I have had one before, but this was done in Mexico so im sure things are done some what differently.
Question:
1. how long before and after c/s can't you eat?
2. are you bandaged up afterwords ? ( in Mexico you have a small bandage on the incision for about a week and a large let me reword that HUGE bandage around your torso (about one inch above incision up to ribs) for about a month...they say so ever thing (organs) set in place right and helps the uterus go back down to size kings like a corset its wrapped kinda tight) I didn't mind this it hurt when i didn't have it on .
3. how long afterwords can i breast feed?
4.how long do you have to stay in hospital (in Mexico i left the next morning).
I'll probably think of more questions later lol but for now thats it. Oh and happy Thanksgiving !!!!

i know ii hate those bubbles it seems i get them all the time too !!! lol and uhg my bag will run out and it seems i have to always tell them.  The thing with the vbac is that i was looking for Dr. that did like crazy because i have medicaid and i had 60 days to pick one 1st it was very hard to find a OBGYN that took medicaid and then the only ones that take it don't do vbac...it *****...and the worse part it i got stuck with the rudest oldest Dr. around. My 60 days ran out and i can't pick a new one. But the up side is i will be having my baby at whinni palmer here in orlando witch is just for women and babies so at least i know my baby will be in good hands. But I on the other hand will get no sleep because of the IV lol

omg ava I have the same fear of IVs...ask anyone who read my labor journey I kept freaking out about it...at one point there was a bubble in the iv and I stopped the flow and called the nurse in at 4AM to flush it LOL....it's the most ridiculous fear but I'm TERRIFIED OF IT!

I know a lot of people in Orlando who are in the medical profession, would you like me to ask if they know anyone who does Vbacs there?

You know, depending on the reasons for your first c-section, you may not HAVE to have another one.

This is my experience and it was 14 years ago.

1. how long before and after c/s can't you eat?

I found out at noon that I had to have a c-section.  I was told to be back at the hospital at 2 and not to eat or drink anything.  I had my c-section at 4 pm. However they typically tell you not to eat anything for approx. 12 hours prior.

2. are you bandaged up afterwords ? ( in Mexico you have a small bandage on the incision for about a week and a large let me reword that HUGE bandage around your torso (about one inch above incision up to ribs) for about a month...they say so ever thing (organs) set in place right and helps the uterus go back down to size kings like a corset its wrapped kinda tight) I didn't mind this it hurt when i didn't have it on .

I just had a bandage on the incision site but it was removed before I left the hospital.  I just had to prevent the incision from getting wet.

3. how long afterwords can i breast feed?

YOu can breastfeed as soon as you are off the anasthesia and the baby is ok'd by the nursery.  You can breastfeed as long as you want.

4.how long do you have to stay in hospital (in Mexico i left the next morning).

I was in about 48 hours.

I had a c-section with my first and in *MY* experience...

1. I wasn't allowed to eat after midnight the night before (had to be at the hospital at 530, had c-section at 10ish, Elijah born at 1022), afterwards I was on a liquid diet until the next day when my dr said ok to solid foods.

2. I didn't have an external stitches/staples, they used this glue stuff, and I just had a pad (just like for AF) up against it between the incision and my underwear. I didn't wear anything around my belly, I just took it easy...but made sure if I had to laugh, cough, sneeze that I had something to hold against my tummy because it hurt.

3. I was able to try breast feeding the next day because Elijah was in the nursery the first 24 hours, I wasn't able to sooner. (He was breathing a little fast and had a little bit of fluid in his lungs so he was on oxygen. Not to scare you, he was fine, it's actually common with babies born via c-section.)

4. *I* stayed in the hospital from Wednesday, the day of the c-section, until Saturday. So three nights.

Question #2- I had staples in for 3 days covered with a bandage, they removed the staples after the 3 days and place sterile strips on the incision which stayed there until they fall off.  They fell off in about 5 weeks, by 6 weeks I was given the ok to resume normal activity whenever I felt ready.  If you would like you could wear a belly wrap or corset after a csection as long as it feels comfortable for you.  I brought one to the hospital (I didn't know I was having a csection, but planned to wear it afterwards either way), but I was too sore to wear it for about two weeks.

I've not had one, but this is how my hospital does it.

1-You can't eat 12-24 hours before the procedure.

2-Not too sure. I'm sure someone else could help you a little more.

3-As soon as you're in the recovery room.

4-2-4 days is usually how long they want you to stay, 48 hours being the minimum. It might be longer if it's your first or shorter if it's a second or third.
