There actually are a lot of pain medications that you can have during labor besides the epidural. But in my opinion natural is the best option if you don't want the epidural because the iv meds pass into the baby's blood system as well.. which can cause the baby to be groggy and not be able to effectively bond with momma in the first moments of birth. Talk it over with your OB, look up some different pain coping methods if you do decided natural. I've Ben on yoga track and since we entered 3rd trimester we're going to start perineum massages to hopefully help with no tearing. My OB likes to do warm water and rub the perineum when it's time to push so it helps relax and hopefully no tearing! Look into all your options. Just make sure whoever your support person is that they're on board with your decisions so it doesn't make it harder in labor!
Idk what it was called i think something like stadol im not 100% but it made me tired and loopy i still felt a lot of it. I paniked because i barely knew what was going on while giving birth it was pretty traumatic. I say natural os best it hurt but i mean its what your body is made for. I thought about the epidural in the beginning of my last pregnancy but my sister has 5 kids and after she had she had back problems for years but she still kept getting one for the rest of them too but she always said her back killed her when she bent over in the spot they gave it to her. Not worth it to me to chance it. Plus im not a fan pf chemicles on my body
I got morphine through the i.v with my previous pregnancy. It didn't help at all. It just made me feel tired. They told me there was really no other options besides the epidural. If you can, I'd say go natural. It's going to hurt a lot but once the baby is out, everything feels much better and they can give you pain medication. Like tylenol 3. Good luck
Iv meds were thebreason i went natural ill never take drugs again after that unless i get a c section
