I painted a ton when I was pregnant. And my children are brilliant and do not have disorders like ADD or things of that nature. Just use precaution, like everyone else already said. Drink lots of water while painting and take frequent breaks as well!
And I agree with taken062406. Have someone else prime. That stuff is TOXIC. Also, keep it well-ventilated.
thanks for all your help ladies!
personally i would say the painting part is ok. But i would definitely be careful with using primer. It is so strong. I was around some one using it when I first found out i was pregnant and it made me light headed. so get a mask and a fan for sure. And try not to get it on your skin.
I painted this past weekend, and I used a mask, plus the paint we bought didnt even smell
They also sell paint at Lowes that is low odor and VOC free. I used it this weekend with all the indows in that room open, and an oscillating fan on, and could smell nothing.
Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and dont stretch too much.
btw, I poste dthis question 6 days ago and several ladies reported that they painted their own nursery using the above precautions.
They sell paint at Home Depot that is safe to use by pregnant woman and around children. I can not remember the name sorry.
Personally, I would check with my doctor first. But, I have heard other women say that they have done it wearing a mask, putting an overhead fan on, and opening the windows. Plus, taking frequent breaks. I think that color will be really pretty. That is the color that my friend used to paint her little girl's room. It looks great! ;) Have fun!
