Deli meats?

I've heard that you shouldn't have deli meats while pregnant because there are nitrates, preservatives and it can cause Listeria but how many of you follow this? The other day I had a subway sandwich it's it really that bad to have while pregnant?

yeah, I think we'll be okay.. I still plan on talking to my OB about the whole subway thing though.. the day I found out I was pregnant, giving up subway was a big deal lol - I'm sure it's okay in moderation though..

I asked my OB about this.. more specifically hotdogs. she said as long as they're cooked & as long as I'm not eating them every single day I should be fine. she said she had a patient who ate like SIX a day b/c that's all she craved.. but she wouldn't recommend it! lol

I feel horrible b/c I also had a cold cut trio from subway not long ago & FREAKED OUT b/c I saw a post about it that night on here!! I looked it up, but all I found was people saying as long as the Subway is clean & they change out their foods often (don't leave the meats sitting out for long periods of time) it should be fine. I worry way too much though, so IF I do go back, I'll ask them to toast it for me so I know it's heated.. they recommend it be heated to 165F.

I do know as long as the meats are heated up & you don't eat them every day you should be fine - I had a salad the other night & was craving meat, so I took some turkey deli meat & heated it up until it was STEAMINGGGG hot.. I couldn't touch it for a few minutes.. I only added a couple pieces to my salad.
