I should have been about 4 weeks pregnant according to my last period (Novembe 15th). However, I went for a transvaginal ultrasound today to pinpoint how far along I was, and no embryo or any pregnany symptoms were detected in my uterus. I have tested positive for pregnany on 4 different tests done on 4 different days (the last one done last night) and each one showed up sooner and brighter (the line determining a positive pregnancy) than the previous one. I have had 3 successful pregnancies, and no previous miscarriages or eptopic pregnancies. I am 26 years of age, don't smoke, and live a healthy lifestyle. I had very slight bleeding (more of a pinkish-brown thick mucousy discharge than actual blood, but there was slight bloody show as well) last Friday for about 3 hours and then it stopped; accompanied by slight cramping. No "symptoms" have been severe. It feels more like I'm pregnant, bloated, with gas cramps than anything. I've had normal early pregnancy signs as well (tender breasts, tender abdominal area, hightened sense of smell, and taste aversions/cravings). This is very strange. I had a blood test for hCG levels today but won't know the results till tomorrow. Then I have to repeat the test on Friday, won't have results until Monday (to determine if they are going up or down...). I have two questions: 1, is there a chance that I am just too early for the doctor to find any signs of a uterine pregnancy (he did not say there was a chance for this, and told me there were only two reasons I am getting a "false" positive: miscarriage or eptopic pregnancy), but perhaps I am less than 4 weeks along--can a transvaginal ultrasound even detect anything that early? I should have had a period by this last Saturday, but no period, and no more bleeding or cramping. Question 2: has anyone experienced something similar to this, and what were your symptoms; how were you treated? Obviously, for health reasons, I am hoping it was a miscarriage, not an eptopic pregnancy. But the dr said if it was a miscarriage, it happened so early that there are no longer any uterine signs... so shouldn't I have had my period by now, or some show of blood for more than 3 hours??? I guess I will know on Monday, but if I am having a tubal pregnancy, how far along to I have to be for a risk of rupture... we plan to travel for the holidays, and I don't want to be hours from home or a hospital and get sick. This sucks! Oh, one more thing. I went to Mexico in October and contracted giardia and salmonella. The anti-biotics and anti-microbials I was on said they could be very dangerous for pregnancy. That was from November 2nd until November 12th that I was on these. Perhaps they could have affected the embryo, even though it wasn't technically fertelized until days later.
